Dr. Sean Petherbridge, a doctor specializing in family medicine in Dubai, believes that all truckers should be required to take a blood sugar level test routinely while driving. His reasoning behind this is that truckers rarely have time to eat the regularly scheduled meals that diabetics need, plus they may not be able to find a place to get a good meal specifically designed for their diabetic diet. By testing them at regular times while they drive, Dr. Petherbridge says, there’s less of a risk of a diabetic lapsing into a coma or becoming too shaky to keep control of their vehicle. These tests would protect both the driver’s health and those on the roads with them.
